A NEW DAY

I get some ideas for stories when I wake up in the morning. The mind is fresh. All the stuff from the previous day has been flushed out of my psyche.

DIVERSION

WORDS OF WISDOM

The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of those depths.

CHOOSING NAMES FOR CHARACTERS

Yesterday I was looking at boys and girls' names for a future story. I chose two names which I believe will fit the character's profiles. When scouring through girls' names, my eyes fixed on the name 'Chloe'. With the boy's name, it took a little longer until I settled on 'Nathan'.  I cannot share the story yet because I haven't written it. I felt comfortable with these names and now I will develop character traits for each person.

I like developing characters as they move on to new adventures. Sometimes it's hard to choose to use the same name or change it. Prolific Beat writer Jack Kerouac did this on numerous occasions. Conversely, mystery writer Agatha Christie was the same person though the story was different. Picking the right name for the character is important to me. If I feel comfortable with it I'll proceed. If not, I'll change it.

LIFE CAN BE MADDENING

WORDS OF WISDOM

To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else-means to fight the hardest battles which any human being can fight, and never stop fighting.

~E.E. Cummings Poet (1894-1962)
