Words Of Wisdom

If anybody were to write my biography, I want the good things and the warts to be shared.

Bookstores In Philadelphia

I will be in Philadelphia in June. I always check out a bookstore wherever I am. Someone told me about Giovanni's Bookstore.  Another bookstore is BrickBat books on South 4th Street.

More Writing

I have been writing a play in recent days. It's about two women who share their experiences as transgender women. I'm still writing my life story. It's somewhat involved but I want to share it. I'm looking to do more open mic also.

Words Of Wisdom

The history of storytelling isn't of simply entertaining the masses but of also advising, instructing, challenging the status quo.

Trans Generations-Part 2

This past Friday, I acted with fifteen other transgender/gender non conforming women and men of all ages in the theater production, Trans Generations. Around 150 people were in attendance at the largest event in the SAGE Center's history.

I truly enjoyed the seven weeks of practice, coaching, and camaraderie. We had three excellent teachers too. This year I've done more acting that I ever have in my life, and I love it! A group of us are writing and creating a production that will be performed in June at my church..

Perhaps, this is my calling for the time being. Where I live there are many artistic folks. Poets, actors, singers, and dancers.  Whenever they are concerts at our church the place is packed! I would love to perform a future production with same three instructors, if that's possible. I have a degree in childhood education and a minor in English. I longed believed that I would teach and educate in a non conventional way. I guess this is it.

Words Of Wisdom

Don't lower your expectations to meet your performance. Raise your level of performance to meet your expectations.

~Ralph Marston, Writer (b.1955)

Trans Generations

Last Saturday a group of us transgender and gender non conforming women and men performed in a monologue called Trans Generations. We worked seven weeks to do this. It was well received by the trans/non conforming audience. Tonight we will perform before the general public. I am looking forward to it.

Initially, I was going to go for a week to see if I liked it. I ended up staying through the whole project. In mind, performance is educating, challenging convention, tackling controversial subjects. I'm sure that there are people out there who are questioning themselves and wanting answers to questions they may have about gender.

I would love to see more performances tackle controversial subjects such as politics, war, sex, ecology, women issues, and other topics. I will be involved with some other projects in the coming weeks and months.
