FENTON JOHNSON (1888-1958)

Born in Chicago

Came from wealthy family

Graduated from Univerzity of Chicago, Northwestern University, and Columbia University with a degree in journalism.

Poet, journalism, editor, educator

Edited two small magazine

Early influencer of the Harlem Renaissance

Poetry was a bridge between late 19th century writers and jazz rhythms of the 20th century.

POETRY BOOKS

A LITTLE DREAMING (1913); VISIONS OF THE DUSK (1915); SONGS OF THE SOIL (1916).

Died in 1958.
