Probably not since William Shakespeare, Sylvia Plath is the one of the most complex authors I have encountered. She is a jumble of conflicting feelings about herself, the role of women in the 1950s, and how she want to break loose from her mother's control. I am reading the book "Sylvia Plath: A Literary Life."
When I first began reading her poems, there was so much metaphors and convoluted thoughts I wondered who was this person. When I read Sylvia Plath's biography, I gained a clearer understanding of the symbolism in her work.
I am working on an essay on her using the book I mentioned. Unlike Shakespeare, I know about this gifted, yet conflicted poet
