WORDS OF WISDOM

Poetry is the revelation of a feeling that the poet believes to be interior and personal which the reader recognizes as his own.

SEASONS AND WRITING

There are many poems written about the seasons of the year. I thought about the change of seasons as a rebirth. Yesterday I posted a poem about the month of March. It is a turbulent month with many mood swings. Cold. Warm. Snowy. Flowers emerging from winter's sleep.

Has our writing gone through the same process? I can say that I'm writing about things that wouldn't have six months ago. Over time perspectives on life change. When I read my favorite writers. I notice how, over time, their writing goes through a transformation. It can happen several times. Their focus changes, but their unique style remains the same.

POEM

Trees awaken from winter's slumber.

Silver gray clouds streak across the blue landscape

Warm southern winds loosen the grip of winter's chill

March is winter's last hurrah.

Tulips enchanted by the sun's embrace

Escape their dark prison

March blades one last might roar

Then falls silent to springs serenade.

WORDS OF WISDOM

There's something magical about that late-night silence that appeals to me. My mind becomes very quiet. I can enter the fictional world much more fully.

PROJECTS. PROJECTS

I'm working on a few projects. Wrote 3 character descriptions. Am researching about an obscure author. Figuring out a second chapter to a trans love story. Have written two poems. Adding new words to my vocabulary. As you can see, a lot is going on.

QUIRKINESS AS A WRITER

I discovered my own quirkiness as a writer. Some of the characters I've created have a bit of me in them. Over the past couple of years, I have crossed over the river and discovered more quirks in me than I imagined.

Are all writers quirky? I don't believe so. In my case I find myself enjoying the journey. The more vulnerable I have become the more I comprehend the protagonist/antagonist behavior in my characters as well as myself. I'm still trekking down this road. I'm curious to see where it will take me.

MANY VERSIONS OF MYSELF

When I read this quote again, it reminded me of the changes in me over the years. Writing does change one's perspective about his/her life. I have noticed over the past couple of years my views on subjects such as gender, sex, queerness, aloneness, etc.

I say that there's more to me than meets the eye. I guess everybody can say this. Unlike in the past I'm willing to confront these changes, admitting that I possess them. The odd thing is that I'm not ashamed of them. Digging into a person's psyche can reveal much about them and ourselves. I can see myself being a particular character. Maybe, in a sense, I am.

SYLVIA PLATH-A COMPLEX GENIUS

Probably not since William Shakespeare, Sylvia Plath is the one of the most complex authors I have encountered. She is a jumble of conflicting feelings about herself, the role of women in the 1950s, and how she want to break loose from her mother's control. I am reading the book "Sylvia Plath: A Literary Life."

When I first began reading her poems, there was so much metaphors and convoluted thoughts I wondered who was this person. When I read Sylvia Plath's biography, I gained a clearer understanding of the symbolism in her work.

I am working on an essay on her using the book I mentioned. Unlike Shakespeare, I know about this gifted, yet conflicted poet
