There are many poems written about the seasons of the year. I thought about the change of seasons as a rebirth. Yesterday I posted a poem about the month of March. It is a turbulent month with many mood swings. Cold. Warm. Snowy. Flowers emerging from winter's sleep.
Has our writing gone through the same process? I can say that I'm writing about things that wouldn't have six months ago. Over time perspectives on life change. When I read my favorite writers. I notice how, over time, their writing goes through a transformation. It can happen several times. Their focus changes, but their unique style remains the same.
Trees awaken from winter's slumber.
Silver gray clouds streak across the blue landscape
Warm southern winds loosen the grip of winter's chill
March is winter's last hurrah.
Tulips enchanted by the sun's embrace
Escape their dark prison
March blades one last might roar
Then falls silent to springs serenade.

There's something magical about that late-night silence that appeals to me. My mind becomes very quiet. I can enter the fictional world much more fully.

I'm working on a few projects. Wrote 3 character descriptions. Am researching about an obscure author. Figuring out a second chapter to a trans love story. Have written two poems. Adding new words to my vocabulary. As you can see, a lot is going on.

I discovered my own quirkiness as a writer. Some of the characters I've created have a bit of me in them. Over the past couple of years, I have crossed over the river and discovered more quirks in me than I imagined.
Are all writers quirky? I don't believe so. In my case I find myself enjoying the journey. The more vulnerable I have become the more I comprehend the protagonist/antagonist behavior in my characters as well as myself. I'm still trekking down this road. I'm curious to see where it will take me.
