The coronavirus pandemic has taken a huge bite out of the arts and entertainment industry. Millions of dollars are gone forever. Virtual forms of entertainment have bee plentiful however it cannot match the personal interaction with others of like mind.
I wonder how the arts will respond after the crisis is over. I maintain that the tickets for a Broadway play were too expensive for the average person. Kids need the arts as part of their development and growth. I know people personally who told me the arts kept them going. With so many unemployed it will be a while before the arts recover.
With the use of technology such as Zoom and others, it will be a part of the so-called new normal (detest using those words). I would like to see more people from the ghettos, barrios, those with limited funds, be able to take part in seeing a play or concert. I don't know how the art community will respond after all this is over but I hope will be with everybody in mind. Let's make it a real community where everybody has an equal share.
