HEALTH CHALLENGES

I haven't been here in a while due to some health issues. I'm doing better, though. Getting back to my normal self.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Being a writer is like having homework every night for the rest of your life.

~Lawrence Kasdan

EVER FEEL THIS WAY AFTER READING A GOOD BOOK?

After reading Jack Kerouac's novel, Dharma Bums, I needed to know about Big Sur in northern California. I read the history and viewed so many beautiful photos of the place. I wanted to be there at that moment. I still harbor dreams of traveling there in the future.

A FAVORITE

I read this book several years ago. It's one of the best novels I have read. It's a novel about a woman dealing with mental illness, which Sylvia Plath did. I have read her poetry and it took me to read her biography to understand her poems. After reading 'Bell Jar', my understanding of her psyche became clear. I recommend this book.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Your mind will answer most questions if you learn to relax and wait for the answer.

~William S. Burroughs, Writer (1914-1997)

A DREAM

A part of Edgar Allan Poe's genius is that he could draw stories from the darkest of situations. He lost so much during his life. Parents. Wives. Fame. Careers. He was addicted to alcohol and drugs. And yet he could write some brilliant stories from the depths of his own despair.

READING TAKES YOU TO MANY PLACES

WORDS OF WISDOM

To produce a mighty book, you must choose a mighty theme. No great and enduring volume can ever be written on the flea, though many there be that have tried it.

~Herman Melville, Novelist (1819-1891)
