NEW WORD

WEARING MANY HATS

I have written a couple of short outlines for future stories. Also have editing a few poems. I have wearing the hat of a poet, writer, historian, sage, and storyteller.

I find myself in many characters I create. Some good, others not. Some quirky, others ordinary. I love desparate characters in trying situations  hence my love for horror stories.

I belive writing allows me to become the character of my choosing. Good. Evil. Crafty. Quirky. Whatever. What other profession has choices like this?

SPIRITUAL WRITING

I was going over my poems and stories last night. Some I need to edit or totally rewrite. I have written about a trans woman embracing her spiritual heritage. I am looking to delve into this more deeper.

I have read the work of numerous poets. Some have become reflective and spiritual. Some poets from 17th and 18th centuries (John Milton is an example) wrote in this vein. Religion still had an influence on the culture.  I will work to see in what direction this will take me.

WORDS OF WISDOM

LITTLE GOLDEN BOOKS

I had plenty of these books as a child. My parents would read a story to me from them. I would read them on my own. I imagined being one of the characters.

My love of reading 📚 was piqued during these formative years. My parents were readers also. I believe I may have a few of these books in my bookcase. My wife would read one these books whenever my granddaughter came over. Golden books are a treasure. I'm pleased that they are still around.

TOO MANY OPTIONS

Sometimes too many options can stop me from doing what I need to do. Should I edit? Do a rewrite? Add? Subtract? It can be frustrating because, at the end of the day, I haven't done anything.

EMBELLISHING LIFE STORY

Everyone has a story to tell. Your life story is uniquely yours. Writing allows me to embellish on a life I dream about but will never actually live. Fiction is a genre where I can really stretch my imagination.

WAYFARING STRANGERS

Writing has opened up areas in me that I never knew I had. I believe that each person is more than the sum of his/her parts. I admire quirky characters who go against the grain of society. I am the same way.

Today I passed by a single room occupancy hotel while riding the bus. I imagined myself staying here without many amenities a more upscale hotel would have. I find myself having the down andout as friends and neighbors. Listening to their stories, I find the humanity in each one of them.

Writing should help us to become better human beings. I don't apoogize for the quirks and queerness of my life. Perhaps my heart and his/her heart see each other as wayfaring strangers.
